What’s going on in the District
right now, you ask? Well, let me tell you …
The new
2008-2009 Board of Directors has begun working on our plans for
this coming year. First off we have set the following goals for
the year:
·
Educate and train members about the importance of
promoting parks and recreation.
·
Provide convenient and relevant member trainings.
·
Support and collaborate with students to promote their
success.
·
Ensure members are informed and prepared to take action
on legislative issues.
·
Ensure effective communication to all members.
·
Ensure that District X reaches out to members in a
welcoming manner in order to bring more members into leadership
positions.
We have
also started work on putting together two new trainings. One is
a Park Operations training to be held in November 2008 in
collaboration with District XI and the other will be a Region 5
(Districts IX, X and XII) mini-conference/training to be held in
Newport Beach in January 2009. Keep an eye out for both. In
addition to these new programs, we will also be continuing the
Senior Services Network meetings, the Quarterly Admin programs,
as well as the Brochure Exchange, all of which were new ventures
last year.
Another new
effort for this year will be the development of a “Welcome to
CPRS” packet to help reach out to new CPRS members in our
District. We hope that making this effort will help to let new
members know about the variety of networking, training and
leadership opportunities available to them.

District X President Elect, Sonya Meacham
